Shanna Skidmore is former fortune 100 financial advisor turned business consultant, educator, and international speaker with clients and students in more than 26 countries. AFTERNOON SESSION: Don’t get Zuckerberg’d. How to beat Big Tech at their own Game. 

What would you do if social media ceased to exist, TODAY? You wake up and Instagram is gone. Tik Tok is gone. Your followers are gone. In 2017, social media was bringing in 70% of my leads. Today I run a multi-six figure business with no social media presence AT ALL. How I went from relying on social media for business to running a completely social media independent business—I’m sharing the nuts, bolts, tears and triumphs, and everything in between!

Michelle Loretta is a strategist for the events industry and creator of Be Sage Consulting, formerly Sage Wedding Pros. With a degree in accounting, roots at the Big 4 firm Deloitte, and experience as a stationery entrepreneur, she dissects numbers to help level-up businesses’ earnings.

 

These days, Michelle primarily provides financial strategy services and Fractional CFO consulting to event business owners. She has been asked to speak at a number of industry conferences, including Coterie, Lend & Gather, Wedding Wire World, NACE Experience, and The Special Event. She was named one of the TOP 1000 Event Professionals by BizBash in 2019.

AFTERNOON SESSION: CFO Mastery – How to be the Chief Financial Officer of Your Business 

If you have been in business 10 years or 10 months it’s imperative to know your numbers. Whether you love or hate it, finances are the backbone to almost every decision you’ll make in your business. Michelle Loretta will teach you how to read a profit and loss statement, calculate your profit margins, figure out if your business is in a healthy place, if you are earning enough, and if not what dials you need to turn to make this happen.

 

You will learn to use your financial information to take risks with intention and clarity. Even if you are not the one tied to the financial decisions of the business, understanding how profit margins work is important to thinking about sales goals, pricing, and how to have conversations with your clients about costs, labor, and numbers.
